Our Cardiac Surgery Team
Michael Coady, M.D., Chief of Cardiac Surgery comes to Stamford Hospital from Landmark Medical Center in Rhode Island, where he was the Chairman of Surgery, leading the cardiac surgery satellite program of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians.
Dr. Coady received his medical degree from George Washington University, completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and did his training in cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford University Hospital. Upon completion of his residency training, he returned to Yale as Director of its Heart Transplantation Program. In addition, he completed a master's degree in public health at Yale University. Dr. Coady is a member of many professional organizations and his work has been published in a number of medical journals.
A native of Shanghai, China, William C. Feng, M.D. came to the U.S. for college, earning a bachelor of science degree in biology at Tulane University. He received his medical degree from Brown University and a PhD in microbiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed residencies at University of Alabama Medical Center and Rhode Island Hospital, and was Chief Resident at both institutions. Dr. Feng is board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, and is widely published.
Dr. Feng brings more than 20 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery and surgical critical care to Stamford Hospital. Most recently, he was a cardiothoracic surgeon and Director of the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Rhode Island Hospital, where he was instrumental in building the surgical team.
Dr. Samantha Jansson, Stamford Hospital's Chief of Cardiac Anesthesiology, comes to Stamford Hospital from New York Hospital Queens, where she was Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology. Prior to that, she served as Director of the hospital's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and was also Co-Director of the Women's Heart Advantage Program. Dr. Jansson attended medical school at Michigan State University, followed by an internship and residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit. She completed a fellowship in Echocardiography at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
