Women & Heart Disease
When it comes to heart disease, there are profound differences between men and women. At Stamford Hospital's Heart & Vascular Institute, these differences are integral to how we approach the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. We are especially attuned to the particular needs of women with heart disease, focusing on finding the right treatment and providing extensive support and follow-up care.
Women & Heart Disease Risk -- While women have some of the same risk factors for heart disease as men, other risk factors are uniquely feminine.
Diagnosis in Women -- Diagnostic tests for heart disease need to be interpreted differently for women than for men.
Detecting Heart Attack -- Heart attack symptoms are often different for women than men. About a third of women experience no chest pain at all when having a heart attack. Learn more about the symptoms.
